Dash cam shows a Kalamazoo deputy engage in what the sheriff called the “fight of his life” after being shot in the arm during a traffic stop.
William Wright, 28, launched what would become a seven-hour ordeal for police when he fired the first shots Friday night, as Deputy Jeff Nichols and Reserve Deputy Jeremy Conley approached his vehicle for a traffic stop. Immediately dodging bullets — and taking one hit to the arm — Nichols returned fire as the vehicle fled, authorities said. Conley also returned fire, but is not seen on video.
